I’m Mauro Ochoa, and I founded Patagonia Drift over 20 years ago, after many seasons guiding fly fishers through the rivers and lakes of Argentine Patagonia — and later, the legendary waters of Norway. What started as a one-man project grew into something much more meaningful when my son Eliseo joined me. Together, we’ve transformed Patagonia Drift into a true family-run guiding company based in San Martín de los Andes, Argentina.
Throughout my career, I’ve specialized in fly fishing for trout, sea trout, and Atlantic salmon. I’m also a certified Scandinavian Spey casting instructor and proud ambassador for LTS Fly Fishing — a brand at the forefront of spey casting technique and design.
Beyond fishing, I’m also a professional big game hunting guide in Patagonia and a fine art photographer, with a deep love for wild landscapes and natural light. These experiences shape my approach to guiding — with patience, precision, and a deep respect for nature.

Eliseo has grown up surrounded by fly rods and rivers. He shares my passion and has developed into an outstanding spey caster and guide in his own right. Together, we offer our guests a unique blend of generational knowledge, technical skill, and genuine Patagonian hospitality.
We are certified in river safety, first aid, rowing, and low-impact guiding. We believe professionalism is key — not just in how we fish, but in how we care for the rivers, the fish, and the people who come to experience them with us.
